Gourmet garbage Rap-Chef with Pimpish Looks
Opaque does not to remember exactly when he became interested in hip-hop, but in the 80's he started out as a young Oslo graffiti artist listening to rap music. "Back then I didn't even know about hip-hop culture," Opaque explains, "I was just doing my thing without knowing about the link between rap and graff." After a long minute on the low, Opaque eventually became recognized as a member of the underground rap duo Valuable Scamps.

Rather than utilizing the hype, the duo decided to break up, and Opaque started working for himself. In 1995 he was featured on a single produced by Tommy Tee, which lead to additional Tommy Tee collaborations. In 1997 Opaque signed to Tee Productions, and since then he has been featured on several Tee Productions projects, including many solo tracks.

Occasionally Opaque uses Norwegian lyrics, but he prefers English when he tells his sincere and surreptitious street tales from Oslo's concealed underworld. "It's all good to occasionally flip it in Norwegian, but I prefer English lyrics", Opaque explains. "However, when I use the Norwegian language everyone in Norway understands what I'm saying, which is wack. I don't want everyone to know what I talk about, and English rhymes make my songs slightly ambiguous."

This spring Opaque eventually hit Scandinavia with his highly anticipated solo album "Gourmet Garbage", which received a Norwegian Grammy for best rap album. The set also got fantastic reviews from the press, including all the Norwegian media outlets and American hip-hop magazine The Source. The first single "Finally Here" is accompanied by a banging animated music video, which also got nominated for a Norwegian Grammy. Inspired by old-school funk music and American west coast acts, Opaque bona fide lyrics and distinctive voice separate him from most Scandinavian acts. Actually, Opaque feels that his unique approach to rap music might alienate the average listener. "Most of my earlier songs were done for other artists' projects so it doesn't reflect where I'm coming from. I grew up with funk music and west coast gangsta shit, and I know many cats who won't understand my incomparable style."

Nevertheless, tolerant heads who accept the inaccessible mix of good and evil that generate his "Gourmet Garbage" will be rewarded with a mesmerizing journey through the brilliant mind of a real Norwegian hustler.

Opaque´s debut album "Gourmet Garbage" is produced by Tommy Tee.
